Hiking Mountaineering Skiing Motorcycle The 100,000 GEL limit applies primarily to ambulance transport – which is usually free in Georgia anyway. The real benefit is the included emergency hotline. Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need health insurance as a visitor in Georgia?
Since 2024, travel health insurance is mandatory for stays longer than 30 days. For shorter stays it is optional but strongly advised: a hospital stay in Batumi or Tbilisi is otherwise billed privately.
Which Georgian insurer is the cheapest?
The cheapest visitor policies cost roughly 1 to 2 GEL per day (Ardi, GPI, Unison). Aldagi and IRAO price via online calculator. The coverage limit matters more than the price alone.
Can I buy the insurance online without speaking Georgian?
Ardi, GPI, Aldagi, IRAO and TBC Insurance offer English online checkout with card payment. Some providers have only partially translated websites; we flag this in the table.
Does Georgian visitor insurance cover skiing, hiking or motorbikes?
Only a few plans cover active sports. Ardi Welcomer X-TREME explicitly covers hiking, skiing, cycling and motorbikes; most others exclude exactly that. If you are active, check this first.
